Our Daily Snacking Routines Often Lead to Chronic Weight Gain
Unnecessary and unhealthy snacking leads to energy and mood swings in our daily routines. Many of us “crash” at different periods during the day (often late morning or mid-afternoon) reducing our effectiveness at home and at work.
Cravings are a result of imbalanced blood sugar levels. The brain is tricked into thinking that we need sugar.
To combat these cravings we tend to grab the closest available snack in search of a pick-me up. Maybe it’s a cookie at the afternoon meeting or chips in the car on the way to pick up the kids.
We temporarily stave off that crash but in the process develop a daily routine of energy peaks and valleys that can ultimately lead to weight gain.
To combat this cycle we need to adjust our routines to support healthier eating choices
Step 1 Plan a Healthy Meal or Snack

• For a healthy snack try
• Fruits and Vegetables – an apple, celery, cucumber or carrot can be a satisfying morning or afternoon snack
• Protein- a hard boiled egg, hummus, and sliced turkey or chicken sustain your energy and keep blood sugar levels balanced
• Nuts and Seeds –almonds, cashews and pumpkin seeds are packed full of protein and are a good source of healthy fats, vitamins, antioxidants and minerals. Nuts are high in natural occurring fats and are filling so limit yourself to a reasonable portion (about 15-20 per serving)
Step 2 Add Craving Control
• Leave Craving Control on your desk at work and on the kitchen counter at home. Take two daily on a regular basis.
• When you feel the cravings coming on take two more Craving Control and make the healthy snack choices
Step 3 Move your body
• Walk, use the stairs, stretch, dance, have sex. Move your body daily
• Ideally exercise 30-60 minutes at least 3 times per week

What else should I do to support safe weight loss?
• Avoid big meals – ideally we’d eat 5 small meals a day. While this may not be possible, portion control during meal and snack time is critical
• Eat lots of green vegetables like broccoli, spinach, swiss chard, arugula, kale, and collard greens
• Eat foods high in proteins like organic meats, fish, nuts, eggs, dairy, and beans. Include protein with each meal
• Eat “Good Quality Fats” like nuts, seeds, fish, and avocado rather than deep fried foods
• Avoid sugar, refined carbohydrates, white bread, and white rice
• Avoid sodas, diet drinks and other quick fixes
• Mix fruit juices like OJ and Cranberry juice with equal parts water
• Try and avoid emotional eating
• Give yourself a chance to digest before sleeping – ideally about 2 hours
Cayenne
The active ingredient capsaicin increases the body's metabolism of fat tissue by generating heat and is believed to regulate blood sugar by facilitating the break down of carbohydrates
L-Glutamine
